Ellis returns as Belleville Mayor in one-sided election

Neil Ellis will be the Mayor of Belleville for at least one more four year term after winning Monday’s municipal election in a landslide.

Ellis, who is completing a successful first term as the city’s top official, received 10,081 votes while runner-up Mitch Panciuk received 2,825 votes. 13,490 people voted in the election.

Ellis will also welcome back most of his council from the current term. Bob Dolan was the only Councillor that didn’t keep his seat while newcomer Jodie Jenkins will join Jack Miller, Egerton Boyce, Pat Culhane, Garnet Thompson and Tom Lafferty, who were elected on Monday. Taso Christopher and Jackie Denyes were acclaimed in Thurlow Ward.
