Empire Square RockFest lineup to be announced on Tuesday

Just seconds after Lynyrd Skynyrd left the Empire Square Live stage last July, I asked venue owner Mark Roshotte how he would possibly be able to top the lineup he put together that weekend.

He just smiled and said “You’ll just have to wait and see.”

Well Belleville, the wait is just about over. On Tuesday, Rashotte will announce the acts that are playing at the outdoor venue July 21-23.

Last summer, Belleville music fans were treated to a three night lineup that included Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice Cooper, Alannah Myles, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Thornley and Three Doors Down.

They followed up with the anniversary weekend in September with Blue Rodeo, Rashotte’s own band All You Need is Love and then closed out the summer with Slash.

Previous shows have included classic rock stars like Styx, The Doobie Brothers, George Thorogood, Cheap Trick and Peter Frampton.

The Slash, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Alice Cooper shows were the three best attended events in the five year history of the outdoor venue in the parking lot next door to Rashotte’s Empire Theatre.
